Innovative solution to system architecture challenge results in major cost savings and time-to-market improvements.

The objective was to develop a Postal Security Device (PSD) that could support an entire family of mailing processing system family. The challenge was to develop an implementation that could support the DM series mailing machines that would not burden the low-end systems with unnecessary cost while avoiding extra design, manufacturing, quality control, or inventory management burdens. The patented solution factored the time critical cryptographic functions that allowed the execution of calculations to be optimized to meet the performance requirements and time constraints of the specific product in which the PSD was deployed. This solution resulted in accelerated time-to-market as a result of unprecedented reductions in the time required to achieve new postal meter approvals delivering a 33% reduction in approval costs. Additionally, enjoyed development savings in excess of $1 million dollars. The associated patent was recognized with the Pitney Bowes 2007 Inventor of the Year Award.

Center of Excellence delivers cost savings and improved schedule predictability and reliability.

Software productivity and defect/change tracking metrics improve development times and schedule predictability.
